Reno woman wins $14M at Atlantis Casino Megabucks slot machine - Reno Gazette Journal

The $14 million slot jackpot was hit at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno.

The stars — and slot machine reels — aligned for one lucky gambler in Reno who hit the biggest Megabucks jackpot in the history of the Biggest Little City.

A Reno woman parlayed $10 into $14 million while playing the Megabucks slot machine Sunday at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa. The amount is the largest Megabucks jackpot ever won in Reno, according to IGT.

The player lucked into the jackpot after extending her stay at the Atlantis because her planned cruise was canceled.

"We're ecstatic for our longtime Atlantis patron and her incredible jackpot win," said Cheraz Ecker, Atlantis general manager. "This is another amazing milestone to celebrate in our company's history."

The jackpot isn't the largest Megabucks jackpot ever won in Nevada. In 2003, a guest won $39.7 million at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. 

Reno resident Rachael Renee Romanick also won $33 million playing the Megabucks slot machine at Terrible's Rail City in Sparks on April 12, 2009.

This is the first Megabucks jackpot won in Nevada since April 2021.

IGT's Megabucks, a progressive slot jackpot that is available at various casinos, was first launched in 1986.

Durango casino heralds a new Red Rock Resorts growth spurt - The Nevada Independent

Tuesday morning's opening of the $780 million Durango Casino Resort comes 15 years after the company opened its last development.  Red Rock Resorts President Scott Kreeger said a dry spell like that won't be repeated. The company already has a few locations in mind for expansion. He said Durango's opening is the blueprint for Red Rock's development plans — building resorts in areas around the Las Vegas Valley where the population is growing, the economy is expanding and the company is not represented in the gaming landscape. Red Rock owns six development sites that, combined, cover more than 500 acres in regions stretching to the outer ends of Clark County, giving the company a roadmap for future projects.
